Gesabakwa CBO and Jonathan Rays of Hope Unite to Raise Autism Awareness in the Community

Gesabakwa CBO believes in the power of community knowledge and support. Recently, we were honoured to partner with Jonathan Rays of Hope, another organization dedicated to making a positive impact, to host an important Autism Awareness event in Migori County.

This collaborative event aimed to increase understanding, reduce stigma, and promote acceptance of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families within our community. We believe that awareness is the first step towards creating a truly inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and supported.

Why This Matters to Our Community

At Gesabakwa CBO, we focus on serving vital members of our community, including the elderly, widows, women, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). Raising awareness about autism is crucial because:

  1. It Fosters Empathy: Understanding autism helps community members interact with sensitivity and support towards families affected by ASD.
  2. It Builds Inclusive Support Systems: Educated community members, including elders and women who are often key figures in families and neighbourhoods, can become better allies and sources of support.
  3. It Intersects with Our Target Groups: Families within our target groups may be directly impacted by autism, or they may be neighbours and friends who can offer crucial local support.

A Successful Collaboration

The partnership with Jonathan Rays of Hope brought together resources and expertise to effectively share information and facilitate discussions. Attendees gathered to learn more about ASD, ask questions, and share experiences in a supportive setting. Events like these strengthen community bonds and highlight the importance of working together for the common good.

Gesabakwa CBO extends its sincere thanks to Jonathan Rays of Hope for their partnership and to all the community members who attended and participated in this awareness initiative. We remain committed to fostering an informed, compassionate, and inclusive community for all.
